Hey Everyone,
Tonight will be the last MAC meeting of the semester, as next Thursday is our movie night and the following Thursday is exam time. Tonight we will be talking about the movie night for next week, as well as possible plans for next semester.
Since it’s our last meeting for the semester there will be food at tonight’s meeting (more than likely pizza), and it will be more laid back than usual. Also if you have any interest in running for Chair or Vice Chair for next semester it is crucial that you come to tonight’s meeting to talk with me and Josie.
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving break and I will see you all tonight.

I am currently working with the English, Psychology, Political Science, and Economics departments to improve incredibly long waits to have appointments with concentration advisers. Whether it is implementing more “open office hours” or hiring more staff, there are a large variety of ways to improve the long wait many students face. I have already met with English and Psychology advisers, and they seem receptive to working with us. Meetings have been set up with Political Science and Economics in the next coming weeks. If you would like to be involved in this effort, or have a suggestion for other problematic departments, or more creative solutions to the problem, please feel free to shoot me an email (kreising@umich.edu).

Shelley Rosenberg and I met with Bob Jones and Steve Sarrica to talk about the re-allocation of printing pages for U of M students. Steve is the manager of ITCS Campus Computing Sites and Bob is in charge specifically of printing. It was a great meeting. We talked about a lot of options for getting students more pages. There are a lot of budgetary restraints as well as logistical restraints but they were very interested in our idea of giving people 800 pages to split between Fall and Winter term. This would take some of the variability out of how many pages people use.
Bob and Steve are going to talk with some people in the Student Budget and Accounts office as well as the Provost and their staff about what we can do with this project. The budget is set each year in July so any change would take place officially when they set the new budget. Students wouldn’t see any changes in printing pages until next Fall, if we are successful. Attached are our notes from the meeting:
