SG Retreat

We need to celebrate the Town Hall event, Night of LSA, BAC Day, and, most importantly, all of our NEW members!

All SG members and friends are invited and encouraged to attend this semester’s Retreat.

It starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7th at the Union.

First, we’ll all head to Whirley Ball of Ann Arbor (750 Phoenix Drive, Ann Arbor) where we will play some games, eat some pizza, and compete in some intense bumper car action. We will then return to campus and officially end the Retreat.

Stick around because the fun doesn’t have to stop.

Email John Monaghan at jpmon@umich.edu if you would like to come.

Night of LSA

Wednesday, Feb. 4, 6-8pm in the East Hall Math Atrium.

Free food. Great performances. Awesome auction items. Ralph Williams.

Bring your friends. Spread the word.

SG Mass Meeting

Do you want to see what LSA Student Government is all about?
Want to be a member of LSA Student Government?
Do you want to ask LSA Student Government members questions?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then come to the Winter 2009 Mass Meeting for LSA Student Government. It will be held in Room 2001 in the LSA Building (the orange brick building next to the Michigan Union).

If you answered “no” to all of these questions then we’ll catch you next semester.

The Financial Crisis and YOU

Financial Crisis poster

UPDATE: You can now listen to the entire forum and view the Economic Crisis PowerPoint.

Financial Crisis and You - The Michigan Daily

This Forum is an opportunity to learn how the financial crisis impacts tuition, financial aid, housing, the job market, and a variety of other issues that have to do with Ann Arbor and the University.

Many events on campus have tried to inform students about what is happening on Wall Street, but this forum is more focused on what is happening on “State Street.”

Many students wonder how the economy will treat them once they enter the real world, and many are interested at how their experience will be different from past generations. It is all summed up by the question, ‘How does the financial crisis affect me?’

This Forum is an opportunity to learn about how the financial crisis impacts YOU, and a chance to ask your most burning questions:
Can I still get a job?
Is tuition going to increase?
Can I get scholarships and financial aid now? How?
What kind of loans should I be taking out?
What services does the University have to help students like me?
What do I need to know to keep myself out of excessive debt?

Speakers and panelists will include:
Provost Teresa Sullivan
Economics Chair Linda Tesar
Economics Professor Paul Courant
And more!

*This event is a must for students on financial aid, graduating seniors, and anyone who wants to learn about what University and local resources are available.*

Brought to you by LSA Student Government and the Michigan Economics Society
